help! Got 6 small goldfish in a 30 litre Jebo. All doing fine except one that has been near the surface hiding in the corner behind the filter all day. Then if it comes out it looks like it's lop sided. The other fish keep giving it a nudge. Its getting worse by the minute........should we isolate it? IP: Logged |

Your tank is overstocked and the fish are likely suffering from a buildup of waste. How long has your tank been set up? How often do you do water changes? Do you have a test kit for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? Goldfish grow quite big and you'll end up having to get a fairly large tank. IP: Logged |

Even before they grow big goldfish are so messy that you'll probably need two filters for the tank and you'll wind up cleaning it once a week just to keep it looking decent and keep your fish mostly healthy. A friend of mine had 10 "feeder" goldfish in her 30 gallon tank once and she did need two large filters just to keep it from being filthy. And yes you probably should isolate the fish at least so the others would stop picking on it. Maybe that will give it a chance to right itself. Beyond that I don't know a whole lot about goldfish so I wish you luck! IP: Logged |

By lopsided, do you mean swimming on it's side or it's swollen on one side. Inability to swim right side up could be a problem with the air bladder, swollen sides could be constipation or an internal infection. IP: Logged |
