You should never leave home mad because you could never see anything agin.Yesterday a put in a african frog in my oscars tank, this morrining my oscar had aten my frog. So I was mad and I went to get another type of fish and when I got home my poor oscar was floating at the top. I dont now what to do. He was the best fish ever. I got him as a baby and rised him myself. When I used to call his name he would come. Do you think If I got another fish this early I would be a bad master.

Hey Jason,
You can not measure the amount of love you have for something by the amount of time you spend mourning over the loss. In other words, no, I do not think you would be considered a bad owner if you got another fish. You are not replacing the fish, it sounds like you are looking for something that gives you enjoyment...and there is nothing wrong with that.
What kind were you thinking about getting?

African Cichilids are fun to watch and they seem very curious. I have a severum and she is very curious. When I am vacuuming the tank out she is right there up close and personal watching my every move! They also roll sort of when they are happy. I am not sure if anyone else has witnessed this, or if it is just my fish that does this. It is also difficult to explain what it is that she does. She just seems to roll sometimes...fun to watch.

FWIW, severums aren't african cichlids; they're central american.

Personally, I love africans because they are pretty much the most brightly colored fish you can get w/o going to salt water. They're also fairly active and don't get really huge so you can keep quite a few in a decent sized tank. And I like all the rock structures that they need; it makes for really interesting decor.
