Ok i know convicts are prolifice breeders. i have 4 convicts 2 black and 2 pink 1 of the black males keeps tail slaping the femail then going inot a small cave and diging then doing it again. i have an extra 20 gallon tank to put fry in but i dont realy wanna keep them all i just hoping for marble cons. they are in a 80 gallon the male black is aout 3.5 inches including tail and they pink is about 2.5 inches includeing the tail. is this sines of love or agresion?? ------------------ early bird gets the worm! but the second mouse gets the chesse! hmm after a water change the 2 black cons are lip locking... the female has a littel red on her bottme lip should i remove 1? i know they are male and femail becuse of fins and they were sold as a pair the black cons are also about 3.5 inches including the tail. im confused [This message has been edited by cichlids small Jaws (edited 02-25-2004).] IP: Logged |

Sounds like mating rituals to me (my oscars are doing pretty much the same things ). Generally, lip locking in a mating ritual is a test of strength of the potential mate. Unless they are getting seriously hurt, I would just leave them alone. -Chelle IP: Logged |

it looked like a littel scratch on the female nose and a tiny bit of blood on her bottem lip. the bloods gone and her bottem lip looks berfitly normal. after about 15 mins. IP: Logged |
