A good general rule is you want to filter all of your water at least 10 times per hour so you will want at least 500gph total between all of your filters. if you use the air hose on your powerhead it lowers the gph rates. what other filters do you have or plan to have on this tank? On my 72 gal bow front which is about the same demensions as the 55 I have 2 ph 402's and an Aqua clear 300 power filter. so I'm pushing about 800gph out of about 65 gal of water and the tank is always perfect. and on my 55 gal S.W. tank I have an emperor 280, seaclone 100 and 3 power head 301's so I'm pushing about 900gph out of about 50 gal of water.
