Hi - thanks for looking at this thread! I've recently acquired two new Orandas for my Biorb, I just wondered if anyone knew the best feed for them. The biorb instructions suggest using the pellet feed which they supply in the box - but my fish don't seem to like it but went mad when I sprinkled some flakes in. I think the pellets are suggested as better for the filter - but is this just a cunning ploy by Biorb to make me continue buying their food? Does anyone know if feeding them flakes would interefere with the filter system? Thanks for any suggestions.

Before I begin to moan and complain about the soulless aquarium industry I'm going to advise you to take those fish back. Orandas can grow upwards of 8" (20cm) and are extremely fat bodied fish. They produce a lot of waste even relative to other similarly sized fish. In other words, they can not live in a 30 litre sphere aquarium with a 40 cm diameter. I'm not saying it's your fault - biOrb's own website shows a bowl with SEVEN goldfish and has a Feng Shui "master" go on about how beneficial 2 gold and 1 black goldfish are to luck and protection. I don't think dead fish will do much for karma though!

The filter looks like a slightly modified undergravel. What I would do is return the goldfish and use it as a betta habitat (you'll need a small heater).

Katana,
The biorb is actually listed as 30 liters, not 30 gal. This converts to about 7.4 gallons. Far too small for large goldfish

Thanks, it was a typo. My point is the same though.
