dont give your oscar just one type of food. try giving him meal worms, crickets, staple food tablets, feeders(but they can cause problems so vacume after feeding)worms, and tablets for oscars. IP: Logged |

try not to ONLY feed feaders If you quarintien them for at least 4 weeks or if you breed your own!they are also could start digeginal problesm and give your O a bad desease. i hear that hikari cichlid pellets are good for 0's you can use cichlid stix but make sure you very the diet so they get all the nutritios stuff they need to grow also if he wont take the pellets dont feed him for a day then he will be begging for food the next day or so. dont spoil them only give treats after they eat their pellets. early bird gets the worm! but the second mouse gets the chesse! The very best thing is a good quality pelleted food made specifically for large cichlids. The main ones I know of are Hikari Gold, BioGold, & Staple; HBH Oscar Show; and New Life Spectrum. As occasional treats you can give them a wide variety of insects (avoid things like spiders and anything that could have come in contact with pesticides), earthworms, mealworms, and shrimp. And I really can't stress enough how important it is to avoid feeder fish. There are so many other types of food that are much better for oscars and feeder fish can cause so many problems, I really don't see how it's worth the risk. -Chelle IP: Logged |
