Anyone know anything about the black kuhli loach? I just recently heard about them and I was really interested. IP: Logged |

I have a kuhli loach 1. according to the LPS and internet, they only grow to about 4 inches. Mine's about 2 right now. 2. If you have just one in a big tank with other bigger fish, it'll be intimidated and you might not see much of it. I switched mine to a smaller tank with a dwarf gourami and he's really active and entertaining to watch. 3. Needs somewhere to hide, like a little cave. Otherwise it might adventure into your filter >.< 4. Eats algae based sinking food, and has a thing for blood worms/tubifex worms. I've been told they won't eat flake food, but mine has no problem eating it once it's sunk to the bottom of the tank. i hope that helps IP: Logged |

Oh hey thank you. How long have you kept yours? The one's I have seen in the aquarium store that I go to are already around three inches. They are so fascinating! IP: Logged |

I know that the Kuhli does better when there is sand substrate for it to hide in. They can get really fat, and are fun to watch! IP: Logged |

Are they ok with gravel? IP: Logged |

I haven't had mine for too long now, he's just a little guy, about 2 inches. He doesn't seem to mind my gravel, and he does a good job cleaning up any food that reaches the bottom. IP: Logged |

The gravel can sometimes scratch their undersides up, and make them a little nervous. Just keep an eye on the little guy and provide plenty of hiding places. IP: Logged |
