I have two bettas and a goldfish that were rescued from pretty awful situations (For example the goldfish was being kept in a very small vodka bottle...) Right now I have three small tanks all of which have filtration and lighting. One tank if 1.5 gallons and is housing a betta, the other is also 1.5 gallons and housing a goldfish (which I am aware is too small), and one is 3 gallons and holding a betta and 2 zebra danios (which were mine to begin with.) Right now I am in a dorm and I have limited space. By next year I will be able to keep larger tanks. Will my fish be alright until then since I keep them very clean. IP: Logged |

The bettas should be fine, but I don't think the goldfish will. If you can't get anything bigger, I would put the betta and zebras in the 1.5 gallon and the goldfish in the 3. It's not the best situation for the goldfish, but it's better than the 1.5 gallon or the vodka bottle (whoever did that should be shot ). -Chelle IP: Logged |

Yes there were four of them in various alcohol bottles. I was extremely bothered by this. But it was the whole feeder fish mentality and they didn't want to understand how wrong it was. After all, "they only paid ten cents for each..." and apparently that makes it ok. I protested to the point that two were moved into a still very small, but more acceptable bowl. The other wasn't moved and died pretty quickly. I took the fourth because it was all that I could house. It really frustrates me to see this kind of thing. Oh and I didn’t mention my otto. In the 3 gallon. IP: Logged |

Was the fourth one drunk did he have a hangover the next morning just kidding. That 3 gallon sounds a little over crowded is there any chance you could buy a 5 gallon? IP: Logged |

What I'd actually like to do is buy a 5 gallon eclipse system, but they're a little pricey. Besides I don't know if I can with the space I've got. Still if the deal is right. But that would be excellent because then I could have space for the fish in my three gallon and I could put the goldfish in the three gallon for the time being. Actually is there anything that is smaller than an otto that would take care of an algae problem that won't go away in one of my 1.5 gallon tanks? IP: Logged |
