hey i just got 2 comet gold fish and i have a couple of questions


1. they like to stay on the bottom lots why is that???


2. What should the water temp. be at for these fish???


3.there just small so can i keep them in a small place???


4. what the the best like type of food for them???


5. How big will they get????

6. can i stunt there growth by keeping them in a small place

note they are just small(little feeder fish)


please help me out i need some info


just answer what ever u can

1. They may just be adjusting to the new environment. I'd keep any eye on them and see if they get more active in the next couple of days.

2. The can do okay with temps from 46* - 75*. You should be fine if you don't have a heater and just let the water be at room temp.

3. Goldfish can get over 12" long so they really will need a fairly large aquarium. I would suggest no smaller than a 40 gallon. You can keep them in a smaller tank for a while, but you will risk them being stunted and sickly.

4. Most LFS's should have pellets and flakes specifically for goldfish. It's a good idea to soak pellets in tank water before feeding them to help reduce the risk of swim bladder problems.

6. Yes, keeping them in a tank that is too small will stunt their growth, but like I said before, it is not healthy. Keeping large, messy fish in a small tank will also cause problems with your water parameters which will basically poison your fish. They will also have shortened lifespans and weak immune systems.
