FWIW = for what it's worth

IIRC = if I recall correctly
LFS = local fish store
SL = standard length - used when measuring a fish. The length from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail.
TL = total length - tip of nose to end of tail.
ADF = african dwarf frog
ACF = african clawed frog
GPH = gallons/hour

L = this one really bugs me because it can denote both liters (ie 20L) or a long tank (ie 20L) If I use it, it means liters.

One other thing I tend to do is use capital I & A in nitrIte and nitrAte (which is not the officially correct way to write them). I do it because I found myself getting them confused (think one buy type the other) so this makes me slow down, think about it, and make sure I'm using the correct one.
