Hello everyone... I've just started keeping an aqarium (I have a 10 gallon with some guppys and mollies) I was wondering if any of you could give me some info on Arawanas (like what size tank they need, care, and how difficult they are to keep, if they get along with other fish, etc.) I've been a little discouraged, I started with bettas (the tank was divided) and they all died (2 caught fungus and the other had dropsy or a swim bladder problem) It was a little discouraging. My new guppys seem to be doing ok though. But I'm a little nervous about getting a fish that requires more expert care as I am inexperienced. Any information you could give me would be apreciated. Thanks everyone =)

arowanas are mid to top dwelers they need a huge tank to turn around and to actualy siwm they get to be about 3.5 feet in home aquaria they will eat smaller fish and you need a titly fitting hood because they are jumpers i would sugest a 200+ gal tank or a costome tank that is realy wide so they can swim without being cramped. Not the best fish for inexperianced Hoppyists

They need a very large tank. Like 240 gallons. They get very large, and expensive to feed. Assuming you have the resources to provide properly for the fish, they are pretty cool fish.

Hi,
Arowana's are fishes for experienced hobbiests, They grow really long. Maintaining these are really expensive. They require a decently huge and a tank which is longer. The height of the tank can be nomial as these are mid dwellers.

These consume only live smaller fishes so have to maintain another tank for these live foods.

Also these fishes does not mix with any other catagory of fishes.
