Very fast up to 17 cm. Takes them little more then 2 years. You should get a very big tank about 200 gallons.

think about it first

Very Fast! I bought mine at one week old Dec 28th 2002. They were the size of my pinky fingernail from head to tail. I had them in a 20 gallon tank and fed the freezed dried bloodworms. They are now about 5" long and 3-1/2" front top to bottom and in a 55 gallon tank. An upgrade to 200 gallons is overdue but they are fine. You just have to keep them fed or they will nip at each other. They are staring at me now wanting to be fed.

Keep the water clean and the fish fed and they will grow very fast. Warm water 78-82 and current in the water help too.
