Hi,
I set up my discus tank abot two months ago and they seem to be doing great. Before I could buy the Discus I had to drastically reduce the ph. It is now at about 6.4
I bought a new submersible heater and the other day I noticed it had some white scale on the bottom. I was able to brush it off but what couses it and what can I do to avoid getting it in the future?
Thanks in advance.

You didn't mention your KH parameters... Typically what you're describing is a calcium buildup and is most prominent in very hard water. What did you use to drop the pH?

I used tank soft and them a powder ph down. I had to mix the powder in some tank water and then pour it back in to the tank
