i was at the pet store the other day n saw some of these crazy looking lil puffers, i was all psyched to get them then the guy at the shop told me they shouldn't go in with any other fish.so I'm left wonderingif you can keep them in a 55 gallon with some german-rams, kribensis, guppies n so forth(seen how most times i find the pet store workers seem to exagerate).

Depending on what kind of puffer it is, it could be brackish. Plus, the store keeper was correct, they really aggressive and bad fin nippers, so no, they shouldn't be kept with other fish.

Congrats to your LFS. Lotsa places would've just sold you your fish then happily have sold you replacements when evrything was killed. I'd go back there if I were you.
