my new Oscar is swiming around bot slowly and has his head tilted up alittle bit.. is he just angry about the new tank or is this sines of about to die or somehting horrible!! im hoping to have this guy for along time thanks for the replys

If you just got him, he's probably pouting. Oscars (and cichlids in general) are very moody fish and get upset at the slightest changes in their environment (especially moving to a new tank). I would give him a a couple days and he should perk up.

The head up stance is a threatening gesture that is sent out to other oscars. It can also be displayed in a new situation, or if someone is watching the fish closely. I have also seen the severum display the same threat. Like Chelle said, give 'em time.

well he eats and stuff so i hope hes just moaping. i spent about 1/2 hour picking ou the best 1 from the pet shop some looked pritty bad bot no dead 1's in the tank he was the only out of few to eat when they fead them. its hard some pet shops keep bad water like walmart i got a cory cat from their and it almost killed my angels cuz of Ich... but its so tempting to shop their cuz its so cheap.... lol i need ot get a quarintine tank.. will a 20 gallon do if i remove the gravel and plants and stuff how do you set up quaritine tank?

Yup a 20 gallon should be fine for fish under 8". Basically, all you need is a heater and filter, cycle it, and keep it cycled by adding pure ammonia to it so the nitrifying bacteria in the filter doesn't die off.
