I bought a betta fish and I want to change the water. I've read that you shouldnt change all of the water @ once, but I've also read that you should. I'd appreciate any help from a betta fish owner. I have a one gallon tank w/a couple stalks bamboo for "decoration". I recently took out rocks b/c I felt they cause my other betta 2 succumb to "fungus" IP: Logged |

When you change a betta's water, it is best to change about half of the water twice a week. Only half, because you should leave beneficial bacteria that is in the water, in the tank. These bacteria eat ammonia and other harmful water pollutants. Also, I recommend flat ''marbles'' for substrate in a Betta bowl, because there isn't alot of room for detritus [ fish waste, other debris ] to hide in. IP: Logged |

I saw a cool fish bowl filter at the petstore. Maybe you should think about that. You will still have to change the water but not as much Good luck IP: Logged |

you can just fill up a cleaned bucket with water, wait about 2-3 days and then just take out all of the fish bowl water and replace it with the 2-3 day sitting bucket of water. if you only have a betta in ther than you shouldnt have to clean it very often IP: Logged |
