stuff happens. wish I had a more definitive answer for you but unfortunately we'll have to work to rectify the problem rather than ponder the cause.

A large rubbermaid tote will work for the week required to drain the tank and have the seals redone. After it's been resealed it will require a week for the new silicone to cure.

Transfer all gravel, filters and heaters to the new tote. Consider getting some eggcrate from the local hardware store to fashion a make-shift lid to prevent any Houdini's from trying to leap to freedom. Don't skimp on the size either - they make some pretty huge ones. Another reasonable alternative would be to ask your LFS to babysit him for a week or so while your tank is being repaired.

It's crucial you keep the existing filtration going to prevent new tank syndrome when you get yours back from the shop. You may experience a mini-cycle but it shouldn't be too bad at all. Come on back and we'll get you through that as well.
