I have a two year old pleco that has gotten to big for my 29 gal tank . anyone interested in adopting the poor guy . I have never had any problems with him . he's just way too big for my tank . the local pet stores will not touch him . I have heard that they can live in gold fish ponds , don't know what to think of that . I live in the Kingston area of new york . would deliver within 50 miles . scurry95@yahoo.com

Sailfin plecos can grow 12" - 14". They are hardy but still a tropical fish. I doubt it could survive in an unheated outdoor pond in NY as the winter would probably kill it.

Save your pennies over the next year and buy him a 55 or 75 gal tank. An advantage to having this large a tank is that you could also drop an oscar in there and have two cool pets for the price of one.

good luck

did you know that you can get a 55 complete with filter etc for about 180.00 and the stand is only about 50.00 or so at Walmart? I bought one and love it love it love it. Consider it.
