Me and my house mates are getting a fish tank for our house next year. One guaranteed size tank is 10gl, maybe able to get a 20, but not really sure. We would only be living in the house for a max of 2 yrs. I would like to have one bala in the tank. It would only be feed flakes (college student budget), so it wouldn’t be getting worms or the like. My questions are how fast will it/they grow on that kind of diet/ in that size of a tank? I realize that they can still get big, but would that happen after a yr? Is 3 to small a group of balas if you are going to have more than 1? I would like to have more than one, but the biggest we could get is a 20gl tank, and we would like other fish besides just the balas. Like I said earlier they would only live in the tank for 2 years at max before they were moved.

Any thoughts you have are welcome, and I appreciate your time.
