I have a female blood parrot that is around 7 inches. She has always tried to reproduce with my male. The thing is last time she did. Her reproductive equipment did not go back in this happened about two weeks ago. They look like huge hemroids. She seems to be doing fine but now the male has nothing to do with her and she is hiding more. There are now little white dots if there is anything you guys know about would be very helpful. Thank you for any suggestions. Someone please help me on this [This message has been edited by friendly to fish (edited 02-01-2004).] IP: Logged |

Did she actually lay eggs? I'm hoping she is not eggbound. This occurs when she cannot expel the eggs. They are sometimes absorbed back into the body but can in other cases, lead to an internal bacterial infection. If she did not lay, and is still swollen in the abdomen, you can try 1 tbs of EPSOM salts per 5g. Repeat for 3 days. I recommend going to my friends forum for all your Blood Parrot needs. Blood parrots cannot reproduce, and this is due to a process where they are sterile by means of being cross bred. They are a mix of a severum and a red devil. Once this is done, you cannot have two parrots that will be fertile. I have never seen a blob like you described, but just thought I would tell you what I know. IP: Logged |
