probably any light bulb that was made for an aquarium light would be fine for a fish

The lighting you purchase will be dependant upon your chosen stock and whether or not your tank is planted. Planted tanks have a higher lighting requirement. Spectrum is not so much an issue in F/W but you've still got to consider the wattage as a factor.

What type of fish are you keeping and is your tank currently housing plants?

Since Oscars prefer a dimmer light over bright, have no special requirements and you're not trying to grow anything - get the cheapest bulb you can buy. As a matter of fact - I'd go get a standard flourescent bulb from your local home and garden store.... You'll end up saving a few bucks.

Going with floros, I would suggest getting a "noon time sun" bulb, I think they are a Chroma 50??? They are under 5 bucsk a bulb, but with give a clear, to blueish hue in your tank. A standard bed and bath or shop flor with tint the water with a yellow color.
