It seems 1 of my bala shark have this disease, I observed a tiny white spots on its tail and fins, it's very obvious due to the black color of their fins, last night I treated my tank of "super ick cure" capsule. Anybody already tried this medicine? IP: Logged |

I had the same problem with my 3 balas and I put that ich gurad stuff in every 24 hours is what you are supposed to do but they died any ways. So I gave up on getting balas from the store there is more sickness in there. IP: Logged |

I've never tried that particular med (never even heard of it for that matter). But I have had luck with Quick Cure. I've also cured it by simply raising the temp to about 85* and adding 1 tbsp aquarium salt/5 gallons (don't do this if you have scaleless fish, snails, or frogs). -Chelle IP: Logged |

Again, make sure you remove any activated carbon from your filter. It will neutralise most medications. Also, raising the temperature can accelerate the growth phase of ick, allowing it to be treated faster, but it must be done carefully. First make sure that your fish can tolerate the higher temperature (ie: not cold water). Raise the temperature SLOWLY so that the fish have time to adjust. 80-82 degrees should be sufficient and still safe for most tropical fish. IP: Logged |
