i just got a very colorful 2 inch convict today and also i got a 2 inch texas cichlid and i was wondering what's an easy way to sex both of these fish? also when i got them on the way home in the bag, they were kissing each other or lip locking for like 3 to 4 seconds. is this mating? are they going through the mating stage? any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Locking lips is fighting.
female convicts usually have bright orange speckles on the sides and often a range of subtle colors in the fins (blues/greens/yellows) that brighten up when spawning.
The male convicts lacks these sparkly colors.
I don't know about texas cichlids at all. but am really unsure if the two species would mate. is this what you are wondering?
enjoy!
