Sounds like ick you can get meds at the local fish store to cure it. Your other fish can get it too so you want to treat it ASAP and it can be deadly so the sooner the better. Check out http://www.nunnie.com/ick.html they have pretty good info. IP: Logged |

Hi Cateyes1184, It sounds like Ick. You have to remember that Ick is in the water and not just on the fish, so isolating the fish and treating him will not resolve your problem. You need to treat the whole tank. First, do a partial water change cleaning the gravel and filter as you do. Second raise the tank temperature to 80 degrees. Third, dose the tank with medication for Ick (I highly recommend Maracide made by Mardel) for 5 days at the recomennded levels listed on the medication. IP: Logged |

The air in Buena Park isn't THAT bad! If you're doing regular water changes, cleaning the gravel and have an appropriately sized filter your tank should be OK. A more important source of pollution is decaying food or plants in the tank. Make sure that fish are not fed excessively or it is removed after 5 minutes and that dead/dying leaves are pruned and removed. IP: Logged |

In thirty years this is the first time I've heard of Ick being caused by dust. IP: Logged |
