I have 2 irridescent shark in my tank.....one is about 5 inches and is really really black.....the other is about 7 inches and i can see the bluish, silver and a little bit of black. i bought them both at the same time and they used to look somewhat the same. is there any difference in them other than size and color? I thought i read someone talking about there being a couple different types of this shark. is that true? any info would be appreciated. thanks... IP: Logged |

Hi 72glbow, Although there are about 4 different varieties of Irridescent Sharks most likely both of yours are the same species. Try looking these up at www.planetcatfish.com Pangasianodon gigas Pangasius hypophthalmus Pangasius pangasius Pangasius sanitwongsei IP: Logged |

Many of the sites I have looked at said that the size ranges from 36 inches to 52 inches, but that the size of the tank may have an effect. I had 2 "sharks" in a 20g tank for about a month (1 was 5 in the other 3 in). I have already moved them into a 45g tank and they have each grown at least an inch. They are still very young though so I agree that they may be able to get pretty big. IP: Logged |
