I have 2 irridescent shark in my tank.....one is about 5 inches and is really really black.....the other is about 7 inches and i can see the bluish, silver and a little bit of black. i bought them both at the same time and they used to look somewhat the same. is there any difference in them other than size and color? I thought i read someone talking about there being a couple different types of this shark. is that true? any info would be appreciated. thanks...

Hi 72glbow, Although there are about 4 different varieties of Irridescent Sharks most likely both of yours are the same species. Try looking these up at www.planetcatfish.com

Pangasianodon gigas
Pangasius hypophthalmus
Pangasius pangasius
Pangasius sanitwongsei

Many of the sites I have looked at said that the size ranges from 36 inches to 52 inches, but that the size of the tank may have an effect. I had 2 "sharks" in a 20g tank for about a month (1 was 5 in the other 3 in). I have already moved them into a 45g tank and they have each grown at least an inch. They are still very young though so I agree that they may be able to get pretty big.
