Hi oscarboi, You can get a liquid food for the baby Guppies called Infusoria at your local pet shop, or you can take some flake food and grind it into a powder. Also if you float fine leaved plants like Hornwort in the tank it gives them a place to hide, for protection, and is also a food source. Guppies that you have raised are an excellent food source. Any other live feeders that you purchase should be isolated before feeding to make sure they don't have any disease. IP: Logged |

the guppies probably wont give the oscar colour, basically the way you get them is the way they will stay, but you can get some type of pellet food that is for oscars and is suposed to improve the colour. it worked somewhat for mine. good luck! IP: Logged |

I wouldn't exactly call guppies and "excellent food source" for oscars. True, home raised feeders probably won't have diseases, but they still have little nutritional value and oscars still can't digest them properly. As an occasional treat, they will be okay (but far from escellent). The foods I know of that help bring out oscars' colors are Hikari Gold & Biogold, New Life Spectrum, and HBH Oscar Show. And all of my fry (guppies and african cichlids) get crushed up versions of the adult's food. -Chelle [This message has been edited by t_chelle16 (edited 02-11-2004).] IP: Logged |
