Snails do well at eating the algae, but I am not sure if they will eat them. I would ask someone at the petstore. My guess would be that they would be fine because they have a shell, but that is only a guess and I am not sure. Ashley IP: Logged |

i known someone with this same issue... he tried the snails... and he like them but they were eatn... he was told by another guy to setup a faster water pump or add a couple so the water is really moving with a uv filter he had to add more rocks to slow the water down in the center of the tank but since then he has had no trouble and goes months at a time with out full cleaning IP: Logged |

More water circulation, cleaning more often, and reduce the amount of time the lights are on (about 8 hours per day) IP: Logged |

On the same note, leaving the light on for a shorter amount of time and keeping nitrates down will help. I'm not a big fan of algaecides, I would recommend an algae brush and a little elbow grease. IP: Logged |

and also you could put a placuostumus in the tank but it should be at least three tin=mes as big as the pirhanas or they will eat them IP: Logged |

I keep a 1 foot pleco with my RBP. Most of the time they leave each other alone, its only when the RBP moves into the pleco's corner that there is a small disagreement. IP: Logged |
