now...... i tried to raise my own guppys but man do they grow slooooooooow, and the females take a long time to give birth, so i gave up on them. it seems the "Rosey Reds" i buy from the LPS i lose 10 to 15 in the first couple days. the gold fish feeders they sell are clearly diff from the Rosey Reds. What type of Gold fish are these and how do you breed them? Also how many do i need, where do i find them and what conditions do they need to breed? IP: Logged |

Hi pacuguy, The Goldfish are called Comets. You can probably type "wholesale fish" in your search engine and get a list as long as your arm, but a wholesaler won't deal with you unless you are listed as a business with a tax ID number.Even with that, they won't just ship a box of 500 feeders. To breed them you would have to basically stock a pond. Then you have the cost of feeding the breeding stock. In all honesty I don't know how the fisheries make any money raising feeder fish. I'm sure you've already found by raising feeder guppies that it is not very cost effective. The only advantage you had with guppies is that at least with the expense of the food you got the pleasure of watching the guppies. IP: Logged |

That makes sense, i guess i just keep buying the feeders, and feeding them pellets. thanks for your input. IP: Logged |
