Hi! I have a gold mystery snail in a 20 gallon tank. I have had it for a few months. I got another black mystery snail a few weeks ago and soon after it started laying eggs. I took the black mystery snail out and put it in a different tank, and my gold snail is still laying eggs three weeks later. I was just wondering if anyone knew why my snail is still laying eggs?? I do have a TON on baby snails from the eggs that hatched a few weeks ago. So if snyone knows why my snail is still laying eggs, please help me, I have toooo many snails now!

Hi ahoycatfish, As you have already found out snails can have more than 1 batch after mateing. Also snails have both male and female organs, so that if you have 2 snails you don't have 1 mated pair, you have 2 mated pairs. The best solution is to remove all of the snails except one. Let her/him spawn out removeing the extras each time, until he/she is the only one left in the tank.

I went to the pet store today and they told me that if you put a goldfish in the aquarium with them, the goldfish will eat the eggs. Has anyone heard of this?? Will it harm the goldfish to kepp her in my aquarium if the aquarium stays at about 76-80 degrees??

How about scooping out the Eggs and just getting rid of them, or drop them off to your local fish store.

What do snail's eggs look like? Do they look like tiny white dots in a clear sac? I'm not sure what I have in my tank, but there seem to be eggs of some kind in several different areas. Sounda familiar to anyone?

Yea, that is what they look like. Are they above or below the water?? I have heard that they are soppose to be above the water, but mine are on the bottom of the tank. They always hatch though.

I got a Golden Graumi when I had a snail problem. He cleared most of it up, but I ended up resorting to hand-picking the snails out and flushing them down the toilet. Have fun...
