I just bought a yellow parrot fish ,friend of mine gave me a hand redoing my tank , so we took out all the fish out of the tank. put them in a pail, and this is where the action started the parrot fish started to attack my algae eater and chineese algae eater and he killed the chineese fish. was told at the store that it was a community fish is this right? the fish are all back in the tank now and the parrot fish doesnt bug any of them. next question is how big will these fish grow. is my 30 gal. big enough for 1 ? what else does it eat besides flake food? thanks and sorry for all the questions.

I have 7 parrots altogether 30 gallons is enough for one as long as you dont have other fish that will get extra large in the tank 1 of my parrots is already 10 inches long. The other question is they are a cichlid hybrid. They are somewhat aggressive but are usually as aggressive as the tank is. The one I would have been worried about is the chinese algae eater as they are known to kill other fish by sucking the slime coat off them. Parrots are very enjoyable and very personable. The main thing is they cant close their mouths so damage to other fish is unlikely. Mostly they are peaceful but like all fish there are some that will be more aggresive. Mine love krill and flake food
