I have added salt to my tank because I have platties and they enjoy it....now that my tank has cycled and I am going to be buying a few new fish I need to reduce the salt in my tank. Is there any way to reduce the amount in the tank besides water changes? IP: Logged |

The only way to reduce the salt content is by water changes. If your salt content is not greater than 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water there is no need to remove the salt to add fish. Salt adds needed electrolytes to the water and helps in slime coat production. IP: Logged |
