Hello! Glad to see someone taking interest in this AWESOME fish. The type of water you put your puffer in all depends on what type of puffer you are interested in. For example. Dwarf puffers, which are the easiest to start of with, will do fine in fresh water. But two other fish that are commonly sold at your LFS, figure eights and green spotted puffers, are strickly brackish water fish. Just research this fish before you make an impulse buy, this is a very fun and rewarding fish to keep, but has many special requirements. Might I suggest asking the VERY knowlegable people at The puffer forum? http://www.urlcut.com/puffer Yes, puffers DO puff, but we do not want our puffers to puff. They puff when they feel they are in danger and/or extremely stressed. IP: Logged |

hey there, i have a green spotted puffer in a freash water tank and he does just fine... he's name is poofy! he eats the frozen blood worms... be careful because i here they are aggresive fish, but poofy is very melow and friendly to the other fish that i have him in with. also, the dwarf puffer males can be agressive towrads each other if they are keept in a tank that is too crowded or too small.... puffers are very intersested in you too, they will love to watch you just as much as you want to watch them!! I would highly suggest to get one!!! IP: Logged |
