I bought 2 red bellied piranha when they we babies at the size of about 1 inch each. They were purchased in august of 2003. which makes them approxiamtely 4 months old. now one is about 5 inchs and the other 4 inches. they have been living in the same 20 gallon tank since i got them. They have always been fed live food which i think i regret now because it has caused them to become very angry. when i put my arm just over the tank to feed them they speed around the tank and flick their tail end out of the water at me. (usually spilling water all over the wall.) I have heard of soo many things that arent live i dont know what to feed them. I feed both of them about 2-4 fish a day of medium comet feeder fish. I dont know if maybe i fed them too much which caused them to grow so fast. Anyways problem is I need to put them into a larger tank and I want to calm them down a bit by feeding them non-living food. (my friend has the same problem with a 1 foot long moniter which now likes to spread its mice all over the tank for an hour before digesting.) Does anyone know what is the best to feed them and if my plan to calm them down will work???? IP: Logged |

I don't personally own pirhana, but people here seem to have success with beef heart and frozen shrimp. IP: Logged |

yes, actually pirahnas seem to love beef-heart and shrimp. make sure the shrimp is raw tho, and if they dont go at it when u put it in the tank, get a clean ruler and move the shrimp to attract your pirahna's attention. IP: Logged |

I only feed my Piranha every 2 weeks. He gets 10 goldfish, he hasn't shown any aggression to my husband, but he really hates me for some reason. IP: Logged |
