I have two gold fish and one of them is either bloated and/or fat. This did not happen over night and on occasion the problem fish dosn't swim normally. There are no outward signs of disease or parasites. When I transfer this fish to a hospital tank with epsom salt for 15 minutes per day,the fish does get "better" by which I mean it swims more normally. It hasn't "thinned" any though. These fish are quite a number (at least 5-7 years old) of years old. Any ideas?

What kind of goldfish is it? What do you feed it and how often? Do the scales stick out? When it swims abnormally, what does it do (ie: swim on its side, upside down, jerk, really fast/slow etc)

I had a goldfish that seemed to be swelling on one side. It turned out to be constipated. Have you tried feeding it cooked peas?
