it would probably not be a good idea to put anything else in a tank with piranhas. you could try larger fish like pacus or oscars, but piranhas are know to kill fish that are much larger than they are. i wouldnt underestimate the aggression of the piranhas

well, i do have 3 red belly pirahnas. these fish can be compatible with lobsters or crayfish. with my 3 pirahans, i have had a red lobstewr now for about 4 months and they are gettin along great. however, this is not suggested if you have a tank under 20 gallons as the lobster needs its own territory. also, lobster/crayfish love a little flower pot tipped on its side to rest in. hope this helps

also, i would not suggest tryin to add in other fish like oscars or pacu. however in numerous books and websites i have heard of and seen pictures of pirahnas gettin along with tetras. i would suggest a larger aquarium and many hiding places for the tetras tho.

A Pleco maybe, otherwise none. You can't even have 2 Red Bellies, they will fight. One, three, or more same species. Black Rhombus piranha, he will not even tolerate his own kind, he lives in solitude. In other words, when you try tank mates, it usually ends up in disaster

Hi Birdman, You can keep two RBP's together. I know of two different shops in my area that had the same type setup; two RBP's in a 55 gallon. At one of the shops they were at least 13 yrs old. In the other they were over 15 years old.

also birdman, I know someone who has a blue lobster, a raphael catfish and a jack dempsey living well with 8-9 piranhas. I also know someone else that has two rbp's living together without problems. If you want to get a tank mate the only way is to experiment, each fish is different. You should also do it while they are young or they will grow too territorial of their tank when full grown and wont allow other fish to intrude.
