will my fry survive? I have a mollie who is due in a matter of days! i don't have an extra tank. Will some of the fry survive becuase I have plants and Gravel?PLEASE HELP ME THIS IS URGENT< MY MOLLIE IS DUE ON FRIDAY! [This message has been edited by Fish-Lover (edited 11-30-2003).] IP: Logged |

It depends on how thick the plants are. Left in the tank it will be difficult to keep them. Probably your easiest solution is a breeding trap which is just a square net that sets inside of the tank with straps that hang over the top edge of the tank to hold it up. Put the female in the trap until she has the babies. Once she has given birth then place the mother into the tank and take care of the fry in the trap. The traps aren't very expensive and are generally available at any pet store. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

You can get a net breeder and put the female in that or they fry will hide in the gravel and plants. Be careful about filters if you let them hide in the plants because they can easily get caught in the filter. IP: Logged |

never put your pregnant female mollie in a breeding trap she will be to stressed and probably miscarry.if you havent got another tank youl have to keep a very close eye on her and if you spot any fry place them in the trap instead.Goodluck. IP: Logged |
