Hi Azianboi343, You're probably not going to like my response on this one. There are several different theories regarding pop eye disease. The most common thought now is that it is caused by air bubbles being brought into the intake tube of your filter and then leaving the filter into the tank as very fine bubbles. I'm from the old school and still believe it to be bacterial in nature. Especially since the only medication I have found to be effective regarding pop eye is Tetracycline. Tetracycline has it's own complications and I would not recommend using it in a community tank. I would use it only in a hospital tank because of the complications associated with it's use. My best suggestion would be to type pop eye disease in your browser's search box. You will probably find more informaion than you care to read. Sorry I can't help you anymore than that on this one. I know that it is possible for fish to get popeye from supersaturation of Nitrogen gas (>110%)and know that it can occur as diease side effects. I did check the link above but didn't find more info regarding it (other than treatment. Can anybody recommend a book or something to read up on it? IP: Logged |
