Peacock, Tiretrack and Fire Eels are all freshwater. Even though they are fresh water there should be some aquarium salt added to provide electrolytes and help with slime coat development. I generally use 1 tablespoon per 10 gallons. These are not to be confused with brackish water eels like the Snowflake. IP: Logged |

Thanks for the help, but what are brackish water eels/the snowflake? How big do all these eels grow? I have a 60 gallon aquarium with a tiger oscar in it. Also is there any way you could tell me what these eels eat. IP: Logged |

Brackish water fish and eels are found in rivers and streams feeding into the ocean. The water from the ocean mixes with the freshwater from the river or stream. This is why it has a higher salt content, but is not high enough to be considered marine. Favored food for eels is blood worms, live or frozen. IP: Logged |
