i am a fairly experience fish keeper however being a teenager and short on funds i shut down my ten and twenty nine gallon aquariums and recently acquired a betta.
He lives in a one gallon tank (not optimal, i know but i'm kinda pinched for cash)
I keep his tank at 76-82 degrees
i dechlorinate his water and change it regularly
his ph is kept a 7.0
i also use a small pump because i heard that it's better for water circulation
however he is not as active as when i first bought him and appears to have lost some of his color (like more dull not lighter)
i would appreciate any tips
Also have kept him unnamed to promote longevity cause as soon as you name fish, they die as everyone knows

Hello iluvponies, Everything you describe seems perfectly acceptable. A lot of times fish's colors dull not because the food they are getting is not nutritious but because it's the same thing every day. Try varying your bettas diet. A little brine shrimp, a little bit of blood worms and maybe some Tetramin color flake food. I love a good steak, but I would kind of fade away if I had to eat it 7 days a week.
