Help...I have two oscars & one placo in a 100 gallon tank. One of the oscars, a tiger oscar, recently developed a swollen tummy and his eyes are bulging. I researched it on the web, just treated my tank with TC tablets...now, what should I do? Is it too late?

Hello Jennifer, Tetracycline is one of the more effective medications for the symptoms you describe. It is not without it's on complications though. It is very strong and also very strong on your bacterial filtration. I haven't read your particular medication but I bet it says to treat for 5 days. I would suggest, while you are treating the tank for those 5 days that you do a 25%-30% water change daily, using a chlorine/chloramine remover and a PH BUFFER, so that the dosage does not build up too much. Also after treating with Tetracycline for 5 days it starts to become toxic. This is easy to tell because it will start to foam on top of the water. For this reason I would suggest doing at least 3 more 25%-30% water changes during the week after you treat the tank, to remove this toxic effect. Again, be sure to use chlorine/chloramine remover and a PH Buffer
