I just got my first new male Beta seven days ago...He has not eaten since and he just swims around and lays at the bottom behind a plant all day..I do not know what to do...I feed him the Beta Pellets and clean his water out often..I put three drops of chlor out in a gallon of water at room temp...his bowl is smaller than a gallon tank...I am not sure where to go from here..He looks healthy although his fins are a little droopy...Is he Sick...Please Help!! i am not an expert on fish but i have had siamese fighting fish before *I DO NOT FIGHT THEM!* i would recomend not cleanin the tank that often... i have had my siamese fighting fish for about 1 and a half or 2 years now and he is healthy as can be! only clean the tank about every 2 weeks and only take out about half of the water and replace that with fresh water... i hope your fishie is doing better soon!! Taking 100% of the water out is not good for your fish. It doesnt allow good bacteria to grow in your bowl. The more the good bacteria the healthier the fish and less fish loss. A 20% water change would be better. IP: Logged |

Yeah, you may be stressing him out if you clean the bowl that often. Now, I clean my bowls out 100% about every 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks, and they are all healthy! (except for the one with popeye, and he is teh one that had a filter! I need to get him the right medicine!) I hope your beta starts feeling better! IP: Logged |
