I have a 50g or so (we're not sure the exact measures)tank and i have a crayfish living in it... Today I bought Ferny 5 comet goldfish to hunt, but when i went to give them some goldfish flakes, my brother said not to over feed them, I told him it didn't matter since Ferny was just going to eat them, and he told me that Ferny wouldn't be able to catch them, since the tank is so big, and there are many hiding places (the tank has this rock background thing on it) Is this true? Will my crayfish not be able to catch his food?

Never had a crayfish and not certain if they will find them but my guess would be yes if it gets hungry it will find the food. In nature there are many hiding places and they seem to manage. As far as overfeeding that is never a good idea always very bad to overfeed. Any uneaten food sinks to the bottom and breaks down into amonia. This can lead to very poor water conditions very fast.It could even kill your crayfish if it overloads the biosystem of the tank.

In his natural setting the fish have a much greater area to get away from him with more hiding spaces than you can provide in your tank, so why would your brother think he couldn't catch them?

Well, my brother is an idiot. But he thought that because the entire back of the tank has about 900 different hiding places. But I don't know, because I went to check on them this morning and I only saw 2 fish swimming, and there were 5, so I don't know if they were hiding or if the crayfish got to them last night.

Hi, i don't think that your crayfish will have any trouble eigther. Also if you want to find out big your aquarium is just times the height by the width by the length and then divide by 231. This should tell you how many gallons your tank is.

I was wondering how to figure out what the exact amount of gallons was in my aquarium. Now if I could only find a tape measure!
