I bought some salts today and I was wondering what they done for the fish and How to go about using them?
Is it possible to add too much?

as long as you have bought the correct tyoe of salt. Make sure it does not contain Iodine. If you bought it from your pet store it will be ok. Add 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of fish. Some fish like guppies, tetras, and goldfish like a little more, and some like cichlids like less, but 1 per 5 is a good number. A tank around 80 degrees is ideal for disolvingthe salt quickly. Salinity in the tank will promote the reproduction of their protective slime. A lack of salinity tends to break this coating down. *Impoprtant note, once your fish have been use to this type of environment they MUST always be in this type of environment! You can convert fresh to bracken (small doses of salt) but you cannnot convert bracken to fresh or you will have alot of dead little fishies : (. Your fish will enjoy the salt, go for it!
