I have a 100 gallon tank with two adult angel fish and 2 adult plecos...my dream is to have discus fish and heard that probably is not a good idea to mix angel fish and discus, but the I think the tank es pretty bif and besides I change 30% of the water weekly. Can you recommend me school fish to combine with what I have too?? thanks in advance IP: Logged |

if your askin for schooling fish that u can combine with plecos and angels, i would say tetra's are the answer. they come in many different color varieties and plus swim in schools and look nice 2-gether IP: Logged |

I can't think of why you couldn't add discus to angels just be ready if you do. You have to watch the water very close with discus, they require more than just clean water. If you mix angels with tetras your choices are very limited. The smaller more popular tetras are not compatible with angels. They nip at there fins and when the angels become large enough the tetras will become dinner for the angels. You would have to go with the larger variety I can't think of the name. Schooling fish that are compatible with angels would be bala sharks or clown loaches. You'll need to get at least six of them before they will school. Other compatible fish are gouramis, rainbows, and silver dollars. Whatever you go with make sure you research the species well so you know what your getting into. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I have a one inch angelfish in with fully grown gouramis and bosemani rainbow. He tries daily to bully all the fish but most act like he's not even there, except for the rainbow who swims away when the angelfish chases. it's pretty funny to watch this little fish chase around a fish 3x his size. LOL The rainbow isn't cowed (none of the fish are) nor is there any damage so I'm not worried.. yet ; ) IP: Logged |

Yea unless the angel sees a much smaller fish as dinner they realy don't do much. I've heard people make claims that angels are aggresive but it's been my experiance that they are only territorial. There's a big difference they will chase and tap but don't do damage unless two males are fighting over a female. Hmmm two males fighting over a female, I don't think there's any species on earth exempt from that one. ------------------ IP: Logged |

In this area in the 70's, Angel and Discus mix was about the most popular setup. The only real potential problem is the territorialness of the Angels. Discus fungus rather easily if there coating gets damaged. I sold quite a bit of fungus meds back then because of that, but from all the reports I got most cases weren't too severe and very few losses. IP: Logged |
