nooo! my betta...is not looking good...i just started a tank (about one month old) and had it cycled with some platies...it's a ten gallon tank with LOTS of plants and hiding places and kind of a strong Whisper filter (i try to decrease the current somehow). I've been cleaning the tank about 20% or a little less once a week...just a few days ago, i bought this betta and another small fish and now the betta is not looking good. he's swimming all crazily and then huffing really hard at the bottom of the tank...it seems like he wants to bury himself in the large, smooth gravel...anyway, i have a one gallon tank and i placed the betta into the one gallon, that's now floating in the ten gallon so that the heater will keep the betta warm, or at least the ten gallon will help stablize the water temperature...i added some stress coat, betta remedy, and water conditioner just in case...and he does not seem to be getting better...he's lying partly on his side and i first noticed this when he did not flare up to a mirror at all...i've had bettas before and i dont want this poor guy to die!!! please help! Some questions first. 1) How long after you put him in the tank did you notice this. 2) Do you have a test kit/have you tested? 3) Do you see any other symptoms-bloating,discoloration,spots,ect? 4) What is the other fish? ------------------ IP: Logged |

You know, I was wondering about them floating on their sides? Well mines a goldfish. About two weeks ago, I put him in a small bowl so I can clean his tank. Then In noticed he kept floating on one side, then switched, floated on the other, and just kept doing that. I got so scared, stopped cleaning his tank, put him right back in, and he acted like nothing happened. He is healthy as ever. Why did he do that? IP: Logged |
