I have an auratus that has been acting strange lately...he seems to be hiding alot more now and is not eating at all. He comes out when I feed the tank, but won't eat. He's been in the same tank with other chiclids for almost a year. I don't see any signs of any diseases...what should I do???

You should give us more information. What is your normal maint. routine on this tank? Have you changed anything at all lately? Do you keep track of water parameters? What other cichlids are in the tank with this one and how big is the tank? Does everyone in the tank have it's own house/cave/territory?
Wow, o.k. let's see where that gets us.

thanks gr8ful...i have a yellow electric, bumble bee chiclid and a venestus...i only have 4 rock structures for the 4 of them, but I have never noticed them fighting...just the occasional chase...the last time I did a water change was about a week ago, everything seemed fine then...my Auratus seems to be gasping for air...i have checked the water quality...ph and nitrogen levels are good...i think there may be a lack of O2...i'm going to do a partial water change and get a new power head filter which will move the water around more at the top...other than that I think he has some signs of "velvet" now, although he isn't covered with the dust...thanks
