a buddy gave me a 40 gallon tank and I am trying to start a reef tank.

I got a bak-pak r2 and live sand a heater and a maxi-jet 1200 pump for water movement, I used instant ocean slat the salinity and gravvity is good I haven't check for any nitrates or calcium, PH and etc.

It's been 5 days now and the tank is still cloudy I've notie some change but the glass is getting filmy looking.........any ideas to get it right before I add some fish.

when you set up a new tank it goes thru a process called cycling. your tank will get a big cloud of bacteria and you wont be able to see the tank. depending on the size of the tank and how many fish you have in it, the longer it will take to cycle. dont worry you'll leave on eday with your tank with no visibility and when you return the tank will be crytal clear.
