Can anyone help please ? I have a large corner fish tank, which has been up and running for over 2 years. I have four discus, 5 pengiuns, 2 corydoras and a clown plec.

I do regular water changes and the temperature is at 75f.

My fish are breathing very fast, like a dog panting, but they are not gasping at the surface - does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is. They are all physically well and feeding fine.

Thanks in advance. Rachel

Even though you are doing regular water changes it is possible for your tank to get out of balance. If you don't have the test kits for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, take a water sample to your local pet shop and ask them to test the water for you. Your water is your most likely problem.

there probably isnt enough oxygen. its supposed to be a gallon for every 2inch of fish. do u have a filter?that will get more oxygen in and also the more surface area will help. also try getting an air pump or two to help.

What size is the tank? And like kc5gvn said, letting us know what your water parameters are will also help.

Also 75 is a little low for tropical fish. I would bump it up to around 78. And if you have an air stone, try putting that in the tank.

Possibly, nothing is wrong, but better safe then sorry.
