Hello everyone. I have a question. Ive got a 35 gal tank set up with 5 cichlids in it. Four of them are about 1" long and one is about 3" long. They are the only fish in there. On this tank I have a Millenium 2000 that pumps 180 gph (I think) if its not 180 then its 160 but I also have a wisper that pumps 130 gph. Is that enough or do I need more for my fish to be healthy. My water is stayin pretty clear but I do a 20% water change every friday night. I only feed them about 9 cichlid gold pellets when I feed and if they do not have all of them eaten in about 20 minutes I scoop them out so they do not remain in there. A guy onces told me that would create amonia if I left them in there so I dont. Is that true or not?? If anyone could help I would be grateful. IP: Logged |

sounds like you got lots of filtration, i got a millenium 3000 and an aquaclear 300 on my 75 gal and yes when the uneaten food breakes down it polutes the water fast and thats not good....trust me! IP: Logged |

Yup I'd agree with pacuguy you have moe than enough filtration. btw overfeeding is the biggest and most common mistake that people make due to the amonia content caused from broken down food particles. ------------------ IP: Logged |
