For the longest time I have been feeding my plecos algae waffers. I was just wondering what else i could feed them instead, because I have a fair amount of plecos and am constantly going to the pet store to buy these waffers. I heard you can feed the lettus??

i may be a looney toon, but i've never fed them anything special, i just feed my cichlids their pellets and the plecos will grab a few pellets, and i've had mine for a lot of years.

If it's the garden variety Anostamus they'll eat just about anything. Some of the newer species like the Swirl Pleco need more protien in their diet. On lettuce use Romaine lettuce NOT Iceberg lettuce.

If you're really proactive about your fish, you could give them fresh zucchini, romaine as stated before, spinich, or even oranges. But you have to take the oranges out after an hour or so, and change the veggies every day, whatever they don't eat. What else do you have in that tank?

ok thanks. the other fish I have in the tank are 3 red bellied piranahs, about an inch each, they pretty much eat everything before it gets to the bottom for my 2 plecos.

ohh and i'll try that driftwood, I know I have a peice of that somewhere, use to use it to help with the ph.
